Power Usage Effectiveness Real time

(iPUE)

Power usage effectiveness (PUE) is a metric developed by The Green Grid that measures datacenter efficiency, normalized by ISO/IEC 30134-2:2016.
PUE represents a ratio of the total power consumed by the entire building (including lighting, heating...) to the energy delivered to computing equipment.
The ideal PUE is 1.0, meaning 100% of data center energy powers the IT equipment. The best practice PUE in the IT sector is 1.5.

Real-time Water Usage Effectiveness

(iWUE)

Water Usage Effectiveness (WUE) is a sustainability metric created by The Green Grid in 2011 to attempt to measure the amount of water used by data centers to cool their IT assets.
WUE represents the ratio between total water usage in liters of the site and IT equipment energy usage in kilowatt hours (Kwh).

Total IT consumption

kW
This metric shows the total IT power consumption measured on rack side by high precision meters.
IT consumption varies during the day due to massive variations in customer usage, particularly because of cloud computing and virtualization.
For this reason, our cooling requires high precision algorithms and sensors in order to precisely adapt the amount of cooling produced.

Humidity

Temperature

(Outdoor)
  °
In order to function properly, servers need to be kept between 16°C and 31°C.
The performance of our cooling system, and our PUE directly depend on metereological conditions and the rate of use of our data center.

Commissioning date: 2018
Total capacity: 20.5 MW
Surface: 20,000 m²
Cooling type: Direct Freecooling with adiabatic cooling

PUE Category: 1.2
Auditor: BSI

Annualized Numbers — The above chart shows real-time PUE, and outdoor temperature and humidity. The numbers to the right indicate the trailing 12-month PUE at DC5 Datacenter. This is the datacenter PUE according to ISO/IEC standards.

We value transparency

We are sharing dashboards that show the real-time PUE (power usage effectiveness) and WUE (water usage effectiveness) at our DC5 Datacenter in France.

We work hard to maintain extremely efficient data centers, and we use data including PUE to track the performance of our facilities.
